4 July 2016

On June 24th, hair salons and businesses across the spectrum of the hairdressing industry went to extraordinary lengths to raise money to help hairdressers in need. Now in its second year, Hairdressers Helping Hairdressers Day was created as a focus day to raise funds to help HABB support hairdressing professionals who have been hit by challenging times. Simultaneously, the day increases awareness so that more hairdressers know that there is somewhere to turn if the unexpected happens.

Some of the phenomenal fundraising activities that took place this year included:

Jamie Stevens Hair, London
The team donated their tips from the day to the HABB

JM Hairdressing, Gravesend
Offered exclusive beauty and psychic reading services for HABB.

Martha Pountain, Hampton Wick
Hosted a Funky Friday with funk tunes playing and 10% of cut and blowdries donated to HABB

Not Another Salon, London
Hosted a No Judgement Policy day where the team went all out to celebrate London Pride. Festivities also included selling cupcakes and glitter doughnuts

Q Hair and Beauty, Chichester
Anthony’s team sold cakes and ran a raffle to raise money.

Richard Ward Hair & Metrospa
Richard, Hellen and the team wore white to mark the day.

Many businesses and organisations within the industry, including the NHBF and the Fellowship for British Hairdressing gave their support to the day which has raised many thousands of pounds of much-needed funds for the cause.

HABB President David Drew says:

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in Hairdressers Helping Hairdressers Day.
“In such a fun and vibrant industry it can be easy to forget that not everyone is quite so lucky. This was an opportunity for hairdressers and salons to give something back in their own unique way and I’m humbled to have witnessed the results.”
