This update covers:

  • Scotland: 100% rates relief extended.

Scotland: 100% rates relief extended

100% rates relief has been extended for at least three months beyond the original end date of 31 March 2021. This includes salons and barbershops that have had to close due to coronavirus. You do not need to apply as the rates relief will be automatically applied to your bill by your local council.

Scotland: Strategic Framework Business Fund deadline

If you have already applied to the Strategic Framework Business Fund, you do not need to reapply for the top-up grant which has been announced by the Scottish Government.

If you have not yet applied, you must apply by Friday, 5 February 2021 to receive the top-up payment.

The top-up payments are:

  • £9,000 for larger retail and leisure businesses on top of the 4-weekly £3,000.
  • £6,000 for smaller retail and leisure businesses on top of the 4-weekly £2,000.

Wales: additional £200 million  support announced

The Welsh Government announced on Friday, 29 January 2021 that lockdown restrictions in Wales will remain in place for three weeks. It has announced additional funding to help businesses through until the end of March.

  • Businesses with a rateable value of £12,000 or under will be eligible to receive a payment of £3,000.
  • Businesses with a rateable value between £12,001 and £150,000 will be eligible to receive a payment of £5,000.
  • Businesses with a rateable value of up to £500,000 will also be eligible for the £5,000 grant.
