The NHBF National Hair & Beauty Federation (NHBF) is organising a programme of MPs/MSPs visits to salons across the UK. This provides an opportunity for MPs, legislators and decision makers to:

  • Meet salon owners and employees direct to discuss the challenges of Covid-19 over the last year and their feedback on the impact of any Government support received
  • Discuss areas where the UK and Devolved Governments could provide further support in the future e.g. through further support for apprenticeships or reform of business rates.

Dr Lisa Cameron MP visited the Rainbow Room International salon in East Kilbride today as part of a programme of meetings in August to October organised by the NHBF.

Dr Cameron met with salon staff and discussed a range of issues including the challenges of Covid-19 over the last year, issues around reopening, the business environment in East Kilbride and government support.

Dr Lisa Cameron MP, said:

‘It was fantastic to meet local salon owner Adrian Foxworthy and to hear from the team about the challenges facing this key sector in East Kilbride as they work to return to a more recognisable business environment. The hair & beauty sector has been heavily affected by the pandemic. A number of issues raised will inform our work in Parliament, particularly on the challenges facing the hairdressing industry and I will certainly be pushing for more support from the Government on ensuring hairdressers are proportionately included in the Governments Covid-19 recovery plans”.

Local salon owner and director, Adrian Foxworthy said:

‘It was good to talk about business issues with our local MP Lisa Cameron this week who was attentive to the issues we raised’.
