The Owner of Quiffys, Eastleigh
About me
As a passionate hairdresser with 45 years in our fantastic industry, my journey began with French training complemented by an English apprenticeship. This led to the establishment of Quiffys Salon in Eastleigh, where we prioritize exceptional customer care and ongoing staff education.
My eight years chairing the Institute for Apprenticeship's Trailblazer group have equipped me to effectively advocate for our sector with ministers and diverse stakeholders. I've been privileged to receive seven British Hair Award nominations and have worked on prestigious projects including the Royal Opera House and Vogue. My international education has prepared me to communicate effectively with audiences of all sizes.
I'm particularly proud of my salon's recognition for both technical excellence and community engagement, recently receiving the Citizen of Honour award. I would bring to the NHBF presidency practical knowledge, listening skills, and the same dedication I've applied throughout my career to elevate our incredible industry to new heights.
Why I would like to be President and the skills I bring
I've been guided by the unique perspective gained from my French training combined with my traditional English apprenticeship. This dual foundation has allowed me to blend technical precision with creative artistry. Under my direction, we've built a reputation for exceptional customer care and professional excellence.
I've implemented stringent educational requirements for all staff. Our strong apprenticeship program reflects my commitment to nurturing new talent and securing the future of our profession, creating a salon environment where both technical skills and personal growth are consistently valued and developed.
My role in Trailblazers has allowed me to help shape the future of industry education and develop a comprehensive understanding of our sector's educational needs. I've become adept at clearly articulating the requirements of the hair and beauty sector to diverse stakeholders, establishing myself as a respected voice in policy discussions. I've represented our industry at various functions, contributed to NHBF magazines and press releases, and participated in webinars and industry discussions at both ministerial and sector levels.
Under my leadership, Quiffys salon has received numerous awards for both exceptional hair services and community engagement. My global experience has enriched my work, enhancing my ability to communicate effectively with audiences of all sizes. These experiences have developed my skills in public speaking while connecting with diverse groups.
I've developed a leadership style that combines practical knowledge with personal warmth and strategic vision. Colleagues know me as a good listener with strong interpersonal skills, combining technical expertise with a vibrant personality and genuine passion for our profession.
My longstanding membership in the NHBF has given me insight into the organization's mission and potential. With my hands-on experience, advocacy background, and unwavering commitment to excellence, I would be honoured to lead the NHBF into a future of continued growth, innovation, and influence.
