NHBF announce new President and Board members

NHBF Members votes are in and counted, and we are delighted to announce the results of the NHBF's election for its next President and new Board Members.

With 40 votes, the new NHBF President is Amanda Lodge-Stewart from The Link Academy, Huddersfield. Marc McCune who ran for presidency with Amanda Lodge-Stewart, received 17 votes.

The following candidates were elected as Board Members:

  • Samantha Cunningham (Shine Southampton)
  • Joanne Johnson (Bliss Hair Design, Ashton-under-Lyne)
  • Jamie Mettyear (Mettyear's Day Spa, Herne Bay)
  • Carolyn Sweeney (Creations, Chichester)

The candidates not elected were:

  • Clare Porter (Fountain Beauty Therapy, Godalming)
  • Hollie Hughes (The Platinum Lounge, Corby)
  • Marie Wilkinson (Hair Station Academy, Margate)

The new President and Board Members have been elected for a three-year term. 

They will be installed at the NHBF's Annual General Meeting in London on Sunday 29 January.

 

Rail strike action

Businesses are reminded to take precautions as the RMT and ASLEF unions have announced that rail strikes will again occur on 1 and 3 February.

 

Wales: £5 million fund to be created to support innovation in Further Education

A new £5 million Innovation Fund is to be established to support Further Education (FE) colleges to look at new ways to support learners.

The fund will invest in projects that aim to support learners in key areas, including skill development, wellbeing, resilience, and adaptability, while helping FE colleges work together.
