Do you have an apprentice on one of the new Level 2 Hair Professional apprenticeships, or are you thinking of taking on an apprentice? If so, you now have the chance to influence how this qualification will change and develop in the future.

The new Standards (Trailblazer) apprenticeships (England only) were originally developed by hair and beauty employers to ensure apprentices gain the level of knowledge, skills and behaviours they need to work well in a hair salon, barbershop or beauty salon.

“This early review of the Level 2 Hair Professional apprenticeship is the latest in a series of reviews by the Institute for Apprenticeship and Technical Education (IfATE)  to ensure the standards  continue to meet the needs of employers,” says NHBF director of quality & standards Caroline Larissey.

About the Level 2 Hair Professional Standard

The Level 2 Hair Professional Standard covers both hairdressing and barbering. All apprentices complete the core skills and knowledge (part 1) and then choose to go onto either hairdressing or barbering for part 2 of the qualification. It usually takes 24 months to complete the apprenticeship.
